Amola is owned and operated by Eric Pateman, one of the world’s leading consultants and strategists on culinary tourism, and the only expert on the planet who unites a background as a chef with an MBA in Finance and international experience in over 100 countries.

Eric is the nation’s leading ambassador for Canadian cuisine (working with most of the provinces and territories as well as with the federal government) and a storyteller for hundreds of small artisan food companies, farmers, fishers and foragers. He brings together chefs and influencers from all aspects of the culinary world. Internationally, he is one of the top five experts on culinary tourism on the planet, sharing his expertise with clients around the globe, from the USA and the UK to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and beyond.
Eric started cooking in restaurants at the age of 12 and started his first entrepreneurial endeavour (a catering company) at age 17 — and hasn’t stopped innovating since. With a long list of successful restaurants, retail shops, festivals, culinary travel programs and more to his name, Eric is a well-regarded figurehead in Canada and the rest of the world when it comes to culinary tourism.
Eric’s busy global consulting practice, ESP Culinary Consulting, keeps him travelling around the world about 75% of the time, working for both public and private sector clients to define cuisines, build brands and shape the future of food.
He is a judge for enRoute Canada’s best new restaurants, and for the Canada Top 100 Restaurant Awards. He has co-authored three books and is regularly sought as an expert on food and wine for research projects, cooking demonstrations and speaking engagements around the globe including the Worldchefs Congress in Russia, the Pure Life Experiences Show in Morocco and the Global Table in Australia.
He is the recipient of the Mayor of Vancouver’s Art Award for Culinary Arts, was one of Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40 Business People and has been named to Western Living Magazine’s list of the Top 40 Foodies Under 40.
